CHCECE022 - Vygotsky Zone Of Proximal Development

Post by ladybug » Wed Aug 30, 2017 10:34 pm

Hello, just wondering if I am on the right track with this question?

Question:
Lev Vygotsky, identified the learner’s zone of proximal development (ZPD). What is this and how does it relate to scaffolding?

Answer:
ZPD is what a child (learner) can do without help / guidance from others and what they can do with help / guidance

Scaffolding is related to ZPD because Educators can provide intentional support to improve the childs ability and build on prior knowledge. By scaffolding through ZPD you can provide activities that reduce frustration to children who are unable to do things independently, to encourage them through activities that are to their own individual interest and to make tasks more manageable and achievable to the children.
