CHCECE020 - Behavioural Intervention plan

Post by sarahbenotic » Tue May 31, 2016 2:40 pm

Hi, I am currently completing my Diploma. I am unsure if i have answered this question correctly or even understood it properly.
The question is based on a hypothetical case study. The question is
"Describe an intervention plan you would develop to support the child. Include how the program would need to be altered in order to reduce the level of stress the child may be exposed to"

My interpetation of this question is to construct a Behaviour management plan. The following is what i have written already:
Indicators:
- separation anxiety
- tearfulness
- non-compliance
- hitting, resistance
- anxiety
- aggressive outbursts
Antecedent Events:
- best friends have left
- ongoing conflict with rest time routine
- separation from parents
- moving house
- loss of a family pet.
Intervention:
- positive transitions
- reminder of transitions
- reinforce positive behaviour
- redirection strategies
- behaviour management plan
- observations
- communication with child
- encourage child to discuss and express feelings
- work with child to come up with alternatives at rest time
Strategies:
- Positive reinforcement
- Holistic communication
- Develop and extend on social interactions
- Develop and implement alternatives for rest time
- Model appropriate behaviours
- Model and promote positive relationships
- Provide learning experiences that help develop effective and positive strategies to express emotions
- Redirection when behaviour occurs
- Use clear, simple and short instructions when discussing behaviour
- Work with the child to help provide an understanding of the consequences of behaviour and process the reasons for the behaviour
- Build parent and educator relationship to gain understanding of any outside triggers
- Observe and document the times, surroundings and activities were behaviours have occurred and then look at altering them
- Assess current transitions to adapt and develop to help with separation anxiety

Aim:
- To be able to express emotions in a positive and constructive manner
- Stronger parent relationship
- Reduce separation anxiety

Now the second part of the question, I felt are discussed when i talked about the strategies. But now i am not sure, do i provide a seperate discussion about how it is going to be implement? by extending on the strategies? outline the activities that are going to be used? for example:
Provide a list of activities i could use?

I feel like i am overthinking this, but i felt that i had to make sure.
Any help or input would be greatly appreciated and thankyou in advance.
Sarah

I think with the strategies for the second part of the question you need to add more details on the strategies you added already in the points above. So you mentioned "positive reinforcement" and "holistic communication"... Hoe exactly are you going to do this? What are you going to say specifically to this child?

Also, here is some more information on behaviour management:

Hope this helps,
