Hi there,
Could i please get some help, Im hoping for some guidance on this assignment if it is on the right track. I am ready to send if off but would really be so grateful if someone could please look it over and give me some feedback on it before I do send it away. Thank you in advance :)

Part A
Q1. Describe two strategies you can use to support children to develop an understanding and respect for the natural environment.

Answer:
• Incorporate natural elements into the environment to set up play areas, such as, plants, trees, edible gardens, sand, rocks, mud, water, wooden barriers etc. These can make great natural dividers and interesting items to use as sensory experiences.
• Have a treasure hunt for the children to find leaves, seeds, twigs, feathers, bark and other natural objects for the children to use as a collage or a sorting game. Treasure hunts can be used to identify and learn about insects and birds and what role they play and to teach about the importance of respecting natural life.

Q2. Describe two strategies you can use to support colleagues to implement change to sustainable practices in the workplace.

Answer:
• Set up displays of sustainability messages that can easily be seen by family and staff. Include locally relevant issues and information (local plants and wildlife, local bin colours and recycling systems)
• Include “Sustainability” as a standing item in all staff meeting agendas.

Part B
1. Once the checklist has been completed, evaluate your findings and identify one area listed below, where sustainable practices can be in your service:
-Nature -Waste
-Energy -Toxins

Answer:
Waste: The service can be improved by the implementation of waste bins, recycling bins and compost bins. As well as education the children further as to make them more sustainable. Also making further changes to make the practices more cost effective and efficient.

Question:
2. Explain how you would include children, family and community members in selecting which area will be the focus of your project.

Answer:
Talk to parents, have questionnaire go home with all children, asking what their view is on our centres sustainability practices and what they would like to see improved within our service.

Question:
3. Identify workplace philosophy, policies or procedures that may need updating in relation to your plan..

Answer:
The sustainability policy and procedure would need to be updated by adding the new sustainable waste strategies that have been implemented. Such as the new sorting of garbage waste, compost waste, Re-usable recycled waste and non-re-usable recycled waste. As well as the furthering of education for the children and putting up signs and posters around the centre.

Question:
4. Identify how your goals/plan links to your service's relevant framework.

Answer:
My plan links in with the service’s relevant framework which is guided by the EYLF.
• Communication Learning Outcome 2.2
• Learning outcome 4.2
The plan emphasises the importance of sustainability and reinforcing the children’s agency and presenting a positive approach to the welfare of the environment

Question:
5. Upon completion evaluate and document the effectiveness of your plan.

Answer:
It is a great learning opportunity to talk to and teach the children about the importance of sustainability and the effects it has on the environment. It has been a great way to engage the children in discussing ways we could help the environment and what we could do with our waste. Having the children getting hands on in sorting out the re-usable recyclables and the non-re-usable has been a great way to extend on our learning and talk about the different ways we could use the re-usable recyclables as well as what happens to the non-reusable ie where it goes and what happens to it. As well as the recycling aspect of this project, dissing the wastage of food, and how we could reuse it instead of throwing it away, ie composting, it extended to the topic of healthy eating and relating what makes our bodies work, grow and makes us healthy and stronger to what makes our environment grow and makes it healthy and stronger.

Thank you so much again :)
